The White House is turning to Redditors to help disseminate important information and correct misinformation, as it officially launches its own Reddit account.

The page's first matter of business: Bolstering the Biden administration's Hurricane Milton response, fact-checking conspiracies about the back-to-back climate disasters of Helene and Milton, and connecting storm victims with the support they need. The Reddit page will include updates on federal actions, resources, and state-specific subs for those in affected areas, the Hill reported.

"We are leaving no stone unturned to reach people where they are, across different digital destinations as well as across different topics. The White House will also ensure our information is shared on larger sub-Reddits like r/politics, where we can correct misinformation and clarify the work that has been done by federal agencies in coordination with state and local entities," a White House official said in a statement to the Hill.

The page will share posts from other vetted threads containing pertinent and reliable information as the hurricane progresses.
