This year's presidential campaign may be particularly divisive, but it did bring at least one group of people together — the cast and creators of Will & Grace, who reunited to film an election-themed special in support of Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton last month.

Now, rumor has it that the team behind the hit NBC comedy are considering reuniting for real following the success of the viral video. Deadline reports that there are ongoing discussions regarding a new season of Will & Grace, which would bring back stars Eric McCormack, Debra Messing, Megan Mullally and Sean Hayes, along with creators David Kohan and Max Mutchnick.

Mutchnick was the mastermind behind September's politically-themed revival, which sources say was what kickstarted conversations about reviving the series at NBC. He also organized for the show's sets to be transported from Emerson College in Boston, where they've been stored since the show went off-air, and reassembled at the series' original studio, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The special was directed by James Burrows, who helmed every episode of the original series during its eight-season run, and has garnered over 6 million views to date. NBC was not involved in the production of the video, but undoubtedly paid attention to the rapturous fan reaction it elicited.

Mashable has confirmed that preliminary talks between NBC and the main players are underway, but sources stress that the revival is still in very early stages, with no deals with the cast or producers in place, no episode number or potential airdate confirmed and no guarantee that the project will ever come to fruition.

According to Deadline, the tentative plan is to mount a 10-episode, one-off season, either on NBC or possibly a streaming service. Netflix has become the go-to for TV revivals, having staged successful reunions for Arrested Development, Full House, Wet Hot American Summer and the upcoming Gilmore Girls limited series.

NBC had no comment on the revival talks.
