Get some media player nostalgia with this web version of Winamp
Nestled along Age of Empires II and some sort of cracked antivirus, many computers in the early-2000s were also home to Winamp.
The freeware media player which "really whips the llama's ass" clocked up more than 60 million users by 2001, well before the likes of iTunes or VLC player made any sort of dent in our music-listening habits.
While Winamp hasn't been updated since 2013, you can now use a web version of the media player that's been developed by San Francisco programmer Jordan Eldredge.
Winamp2-js is a HTML5 and Javascript redux of Winamp 2.9, a version which was released all the way back in 2003. Memories!
You can play music that's located on your computer by dragging and dropping into the browser, or by loading them through the menu. There's also the ability to mess with the equaliser, and choose between seven other skins, or load your very own.

The only thing is there isn't a music visualiser plugin like the very popular MilkDrop, which turned your illegally downloaded trance MP3s into a trippy feast.
As for the original Winamp, there is a website but no indication when, or if, a new version will be released. Not that there was anything wrong with the old Winamp, anyway.
