Boyfriend who gave woman a karaoke mic for her birthday has no idea what he unleashed
Forget Hollywood: the only thing separating some people from stardom is a cheesy karaoke mic.
19-year-old Desiray "Desire" Baptiste from Miami, Florida, recently received a karaoke mic from her boyfriend, Alex, for her birthday. Baptiste decided to Snapchat her experience trying out the Mic, and within hours, became internet famous.
Her experience on the mic, which she shared to Twitter, has received 21,000 retweets.
The video can be best described as high internet performance art.

Obviously the internet did what the internet does best: lost total self-control.
Baptiste says she's enjoying her viral moment of fame, but she's hoping to catapult it into something larger:
"I hope to escalate to a bigger scale of performing. I want to be a radio personality turned TV host, a singer, actress, comedian, all while maintaining my poetry. I just want to entertain," Baptiste said.
