'Wonder Woman' just blew past Batman, Superman and 'Suicide Squad' at the box office

That's the power you possess.

Did you hear that distant drumming? That was Wonder Woman pounding the entire DC Comics cinematic universe at the box office -- and in about a third of the time.

We can now safely surmise that Wonder Woman has exceeded both Batman v Superman and Suicide Squad at the domestic (North American) box office as of Thursday, making it the biggest hit Warner Bros. has produced from its DC stable, according to estimates provided by ComScore.

And it's not just the totals that are impressive -- it's the speed.

Wonder Woman became WB/DC's top grosser in just four weeks of release, beating out the entire 14-week run of Suicide Squad earlier this week, then zooming past Batman v Superman just before the weekend. All the more estimable when you realize that Wonder Woman's opening weekend ($103 million) was significantly lower -- meaning its high quality and great word-of-mouth have given it powerful legs.

The breakdown:

  1. Wonder Woman (4 weeks): $325,083,830 (through Tuesday), earning more than $3 million daily on average this week, for an estimated $331 million to $332 million

  2. Batman v Superman (12 weeks): $330 million

  3. Suicide Squad (14 weeks): $325 million

  4. Man of Steel (14 weeks): $291 million

Even if things slowed down mid-week, Wonder Woman will have the domestic box-office title very much in the bag by the first matinees of Friday, and be pulling away all holiday weekend. We're probably another month (or less) away from Wonder Woman passing the previous DC films' world-wide grosses -- now at $660 million or so and counting -- but that's inevitable, too.

Will 'Wonder Woman' be WB/DC's first billion-dollar movie?

Which really leaves only one question: Will it be WB/DC's first billion-dollar movie worldwide?

It's not a certainty -- but come on. Batman v Superman came closest at $873,260,194 after playing in 63 territories. Wonder Woman has played in just over 40 countries, meaning there are probably still a good dozen or two to go.

And if the pace of domestic totals are any indication, Wonder Woman should ring that billion-dollar bell before it finally exits theaters around the end of August or beginning of September. (By comparison, Marvel has four billion-dollar grossers: The Avengers, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Captain America: Civl War and Iron Man 3.)

Just another feather in the headpiece for Wonder Woman, already the highest-opening and highest-grossing female-directed film of all time, among other records -- some fallen, and some still to fall.
