Apple's iPhone SE might not be a particularly original device, but the Cupertino giant's decision to smallify the iPhone might be the beginning of a trend.

A photo that started circulating on Weibo purports to show a new Xiaomi device -- possibly the Xiaomi Mi 5 mini -- which brings high-end specs in a 4.3-inch body.

According to GizChina, the new Xiaomi phone will have a 1,280x720 pixel, 4.3-inch display, a Snapdragon 820 processor, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of memory and a 13-megapixel camera.

The price, in typical Xiaomi fashion, should be 1799 or $276. For comparison, the cheapest 4-inch iPhone SE has a 1,136x640 pixel screen, Apple's A9 processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of memory and a 12-megapixel camera, and it costs $399.

So, if the Xiaomi device is real -- which is hard to say at this point, since the only "proof" of its existence is the blurry photo, below -- it basically beats the iPhone in every single area (at least on paper), including the price.

In February, Xiaomi launched the Mi 5, a flagship-spec phone that Mashable's Raymond Wong called "incredible." At 5.15-inches, the phone is a very strong competitor for both the iPhone 6s and Samsung's Galaxy S7, so we wouldn't be too surprised if Xiaomi tried to jump on the small-phone bandwagon and steal some of iPhone SE's thunder as well.
