The Young Turks' election show will debut on Fusion in September

The show is visiting 12 college campuses across the nation.

LOS ANGELES -- The Young Turks will return to cable TV in September.

The progressive online news program announced Tuesday that its weekly, one-hour show will debut on Fusion on Sept. 12.

The temporary series will focus on the 2016 presidential election, following hosts Ana Kasparian and John Ladarola as they travel to 12 campuses nationwide to discuss the current events grabbing the nation’s attention.

Their first stop: the University of Southern California's Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism.

Other college campuses the show will visit include the Harvard Institute of Politics, the John Jay College of Criminal Justice (City University of New York), Miami Dade College, the University of Chicago Institute of Politics, Loyola University (New Orleans), California State University Northridge and the University of Arizona.

Episodes will feature guests including Fusion's Nando Vila, Alicia Menendez, Felix Salmon, Miriti Murungi, Alexis Madrigal and The Young Turks’ Cenk Uygur.

The Young Turks have become a popular progressive online news program, racking up 2.4 million subscribers since it started livestreaming on YouTube in 2005. The program recently celebrated 4 billion views. 

The Fusion show represents a return to linear TV for The Young Turks, which was featured on Current TV from 2011 until Current was sold to Al Jazeera in 2013.

"They provide a perspective that is missing on television and share Fusion's commitment to elevating conversations about the issues that matter most to the rising American mainstream."
