TL;DR: As of Aug. 7, you can create an account and download ProtonVPN for free.

You get what you pay for with VPNs. If you want the most advanced features, best connnection speeds, and the ability to unlock streaming sites, you generally need to pay a little more for the privilege.

There are still cheap services out there that are worth considering, and there is even a free VPN that could provide you with exactly what you need. As of Aug. 7, you can create an account and download ProtonVPN for free. This lets you connect one device to servers in three countries, without needing to log any of your details.

If you do need to upgrade, ProtonVPN is still a strong option. A two-year subscription to a ProtonVPN Plus plan is on sale for £5.64 per month. This plan offers excellent connection speeds, 10 simultaneous connections, and access to thousands of servers. It's also effective at unlocking leading streaming sites like Netflix.

If you're not convinced, we recommend trying the free version to get a taste of ProtonVPN. What do you have to lose?
