Now's a great time to grab a Chromebook for under $100, plus more Chromebook deals at several stores on Black Friday.

Many everyday tasks (and hobbies) these days require access to a laptop for one reason or another. What isn't a necessity, though, is paying MacBook-esque prices for one — especially during Black Friday season.

When 1TB of storage, a desktop-level processor, and a zippy gaming-specific graphics card simply aren't specs you'd take advantage of daily, you should definitely look into Chromebooks. Even the cheapest ones typically have sufficient specs for simple multitasking (think web-browsing and word processing), while higher-range models introduce fancier features like Intel CPUs, touchscreens, and 360-degree hinges.

The really great thing about using a Chromebook is that almost everything you do is automatically backed up on Google Drive, so you won't lose your files if your machine breaks — a nice cushion for elementary and middle-school students who aren't yet in the habit of hitting "save." This failsafe, as well as the fact that ChromeOS is less frequently targeted by malware than Apple or PC devices, makes this breed of laptop the perfect device for paranoid internet users of any age.
