Wearable tech is a growing market, with new smart rings and other jewelry being added all the time. The latest to join those ranks is Blinq — a line of smart rings currently seeking funding via Kickstarter.

Blinq will apparently alert you to smartphone notifications by a simple flash of light or lowkey vibration. Their most unique function though is a panic switch.

If you're ever in a dire situation, you can use a unique, pre-determined tapping sequence to send out a distress message to all of your emergency contacts. Think of it as a way more stylish version of Life Alert.

Everything is programmable via Blinq's smartphone app — the intention is for you to get your face out of your screen and go about living your life. The rings will even keep track of your fitness and are completely waterproof, so you could even stay blinged out in your shower.

Visit the Blinq Smart Jewelry Kickstarter page for more information and to drop a donation.
