SAVE $40: The second-generation Apple Pencil is back down to its record-low pricing at $89, down 31% from its list price of $129. As of Dec. 12, you can find this deal at Amazon and Best Buy.

Calling all students, artists, and those looking for gifts for those two groups: one of the best iPad accessories just dropped back down its lowest price ever.

That's right, the second-generation Apple Pencil is just $89 again at Amazon and Best Buy, or Target for 99 cents more. Typically sitting at $129, the Apple Pencil 2 is one of the pricier accessories for what you're getting, but this sale price makes it worth the splurge. Just note that it's only compatible with iPads that come equipped with a USB-C charging port (so a yes for the 2022 iPad Air and a no for the 10th gen iPad that came out in October).

As far as stylus options go, the second-gen Apple Pencil is probably your best bet for the iPad, providing excellent pressure sensitivity for writing and drawing, and that ultra easy connectivity that only comes from using products within the Apple ecosystem. It attaches magnetically to the side of the iPad so it's simple to keep track of, and also charges while it's there.

The flat side of the pencil can also be double tapped to switch tools, but isn't so sensitive that you'll be accidentally changing modes. The functionality of the Apple Pencil combined with its effortless writing makes it feel more like a high-tech pencil than a stylus, which is why you usually pay that high premium for it. We don't expect this sale to last long, and if you buy the Apple Pencil today, it should arrive by Christmas.
