'New Pokémon Snap' is 20% off following the release of 'Legends: Arceus'
SAVE $12: Last year's New Pokémon Snap is on sale at Walmart for $47.99 (or 20% off its suggested retail price of $59.99) as of Feb. 8. That puts it only $3 away from its all-time low price at Amazon.
Selling over 6.5 million copies globally in its first week (a new record for the franchise), Pokémon Legends: Arceus is a huge win for Nintendo — not to mention the "many, many people who grew up wanting an open-world game just like this one," writes Mashable senior entertainment reporter Alexis Nedd.
If you're hoping to get your hands on a physical copy of the game, we've got some good news and some bad news. The good is that Amazon is still hanging onto its preorder price of $54.99, which saves you $5. As for the bad: It was on backorder until late February at the time of writing.
In the meantime, consider biding your time with a playthrough of New Pokémon Snap, last year's excellent first-person photography game. The last time we checked, Walmart had it on sale for only $47.99, or 20% off its usual retail price of $59.99. (For anyone keeping track, that's just $3 away from the all-time low price it hit on Amazon in December.)
An updated, beefed-up sequel to 1999's original Pokémon Snap, New Pokémon Snap features more than triple the pocket monsters to find and photograph and tons of new interactions. (Play them a little song! Light them up with glowing orbs! Throw fruit at them!) As you may have guessed, it's a much "cozier" take on the franchise than your average Pokémon installment — including Arceus — which is peppered with wild Pokémon fights and trainer-on-trainer battles.
For her part, Nedd thought it was "simple and endlessly engrossing," deeming the overall New Pokémon Snap experience "a super chill series of adventures that add up to a constantly surprising and immersive Pokéxperience." Click here to read her full review.
