Stay cozy, my friend.

With the possible exception of hardboiled detectives in black and white movies, nobody looks cool in a raincoat. Plus, they're usually pretty stiff and uncomfortable.

This Kickstarter campaign is making raincoats that look and feel like fleece pullovers and (assuming it works as advertised) that's an incredible feat. The Method Jacket looks like any other fleece jacket—comfy and casual. This jacket, however, is hiding some pretty cool tech.

The outside and lining of the Method Jacket are made of a soft brushed fleece, but sandwiched between these two layers is waterproof membrane that blocks rain from getting through. The waterproof layer is apparently still breathable and flexible, so whatever outdoor activities you choose to partake in aren't slowed down by the weather or your gear.

MINIM, the company behind this jacket, has a proven track record of Kickstarter-funded all-weather gear. Earlier this year they funded their all-weather athletic pants and they also make a rain-proof woven hoodie. Both of these products utilize the same waterproof membrane and inner fleece layer, but the Method Jacket is the first to have the same comfy fleece on the outside too. The additional fleece layer provides both style and insulation

The Method Jacket, in addition to the rest of of MINIM's gear, is designed with a minimalist style so that it can be a timeless addition to any wardrobe or activity. It comes in black and grey, with zip-up and pullover options.

I was super skeptical that a fleece jacket can be waterproof, but the video below shows someone getting totally soaked with a hose and his clothes underneath are still dry, so you be the judge.

The Method Jacket has already met its goal on Kickstarter and with more than two weeks left in the campaign there's still time to back the project and snag your own waterproof fleece. There are a limited number of Early Bird pullover pledges available for $89—that's $30 off the estimated retail price. If you want the zip-up version you'll need to pledge $109. Or for $199 you can get one of each.

If you really just want to keep rocking the film noir look, that's on you.
