October is Cyber Security Awareness Month. It's held to raise awareness of cyber security threats, promote cyber security for individuals and organisations, and to provide resources to ensure that everyone stays protected.

You are probably already aware that the internet poses many threats. It's a dangerous place out there in the wilderness of the web. So how do you protect yourself?

VPNs can be used to increase your safety online as they allow you to establish encrypted connections over the internet -- meaning your traffic is shielded from third parties.

Timed with Cyber Security Awareness Month and in an effort to address the threats associated with internet usage, IPVanish is offering the chance to subscribe for as little as £2.87 a month for two years, right up until Oct. 31. That's a 69% saving on list price.

Here are a selection of alternatives that will also keep you safeguarded for the month that's in it:

Editor’s Note: IPVanish is owned by J2 Global, the parent company of Ziff Davis, Mashable’s publisher. Any J2 products featured on Mashable are covered independently by our content team.
