TL;DR: Uber gift cards are on sale at Walmart — save 10% on $50 or $100 gift cards and save $5 or $10, respectively.

A New Year's resolution to stop taking so many damn Ubers is probably a very common thing in 2020.

But even if you can talk yourself out of a few "screw it" trips, there will always be those traveling or late night situations where grabbing a ride is just the smarter option. Walmart is offering 10% off $100 and $50 Uber gift cards, and though it only saves you a few bucks, it's still basically a free ride — plus, you'd be spending that money eventually.

With just over two weeks until Valentine's Day, last-minute gifts will soon become your frantic Google search. A digital Uber gift card is a thoughtful gift for a loved one who you'd like to know made it home safely.

Many of our Ubers are called out of pure laziness. We don't feel like walking 0.8 miles or rolling luggage through the subway. However, there's a certain amount of relief that comes with knowing you have a (relatively) safe car available at your beck and call: It's a guaranteed DD that doesn't require standing on the corner to wave down a taxi that probably won't stop for a stumbling person, anyway. If you're clueless in a new city, knowing that Uber will get you where you need to go is comforting.

Uber is actively working to combat past safety issues with new features. RideCheck follows your trip via GPS to ensure that you get to your destination smoothly. If you indicate that you need help, Uber will send you emergency numbers as well as a call from a team member. If there's been an irregularly long pause in the drive, Uber checks in. Another new tool would let riders record audio during their trip and text 911 through the app if they don't feel comfortable calling.

Grab your $50 gift card for $45 or your $100 gift card for $90, then check your email to add your gift card to your account or forward it to a friend.
