TL;DR: The teeth-straightening Smile Direct Club is offering New Year's deals with code JANGRINS — save up to $150.

Some New Year's resolutions require you to actually do stuff, and those are easy to slack on after a couple weeks. Getting fit involves eating better, meal planning, working out, and other things where you have to be an active participant. Getting straight teeth, however, requires very little work and it's a goal you can meet in about six months.

That is, if you take the Smile Direct Club route. If you aren't familiar with how the service works, it's pretty simple. You either book a 3D scan of your teeth at one of the Smile Direct Club store locations or use an at-home impressions kit, then you get invisible aligners that you can pay for upfront or monthly, and after your teeth are looking how you want you can order retainers to maintain your smile.

The invisible aligners are cheaper and more discreet than braces. And as someone who had three sets of braces, I highly suggest opting for aligners if you can.

To celebrate the new year, Smile Direct Club is offering a few different promotions — all require the code JANGRINS.

  • To get started, you can book a free 30-minute 3D scan at a SmileShop and you'll get a $100 credit toward your aligner purchase.

  • If there isn't a SmileShop near you, or you just don't want to go in to one, you can save 50% on the at-home impression kit. Usually the kit costs $49, but you'll score it for $24.50.

  • The next step after impressions is actually buying your aligners. Right now you can get $100 off your purchase. You will need an account for this step, BTW.

  • Finally, if you love Smile Direct Club, invite your friends to try it and you'll both get a $150 discount — and nicer smiles! That's a win-win-win.

The typical cost for a Smile Direct Plan is a one-time payment of $1,895 or a down payment of $250 and $85 a month for 24 months. Smile Direct Club's site compares that to the $6,000 to $8,000 you'd pay for traditional braces. I'm sure my parents would have preferred to pay the former.

Try Smile Direct Club and take advantage of its New Year's deals. Don't forget about the code JANGRINS.
