Looking for more LGBTQ pride in your literature? So are we. Love reading comics? So do we.

In a time when people are crying out louder and louder for more LGBTQ representation in their media, comic books have been making powerful statements by quite literally illustrating the nuances of LGBTQ culture in compelling and relatable stories. But if you're at the point now where you know Wonder Woman so well you could practically recite it by heart, then why not give a few new titles a shot?

As such, we’re adding six cool-looking comics to our Kindle wish lists that wear their pride on their sleeves. (Don't own a Kindle yet? You should. It seriously beats hauling a stack of delicate comics everywhere you go.)

Check ‘em out and see if any of these titles pique your interest:

Iceman

(Sina Grace)

X-Men fans might want to take a gander at this ongoing series about the frost-slinging mutant. Bobby Drake—lamenting on his lackluster legacy as part of the X-Men and coming to terms with his homosexuality—receives an unexpected visitor in the form of a younger version of himself from an alternate timeline. This Bobby is a world-class hero with self-acceptance in full force and is even in a relationship with a handsome Inhuman. The original Bobby takes it upon himself to find self-confidence and become the best Bobby Drake that he can be.

The Pride

(Joe Glass, PJ Montgomery, Mike Garley)

If the mainstream stuff isn’t your speed, maybe this up-and-coming series would be a better fit. This eclectic team of LGBTQ superheroes includes FabMan, Wolf, Muscle Mary, and Frost (among several others) who face off against dastardly and poignant foes in an effort to—what else—save the world. This series also boasts lessons about the importance of diversity and representation, and the world knows we could use some more of that around us.

Moonstruck

(Grace Ellis)

Another ongoing series about magical creatures co-existing with modern human society, Moonstruck follows Julie, a barista with all the normal trappings of everyday anxieties. In addition to stressing over things like taking steps forward with her almost-girlfriend, keeping her job, there’s also that bit about transforming into a werewolf when she gets stressed out. Oh, and saving the world from a magical conspiracy. You know, the usual. With both feminist and LGBTQ appeal, this adorable-looking story has certainly caught our eye.

The Backstagers

(James Tynion IV)

The Backstagers (James Tynion IV) Have you ever felt left out? Ever want to run away to another land and try to escape reality? Jory gets his chance to do so when he transfers to an all-boys school and joins the stage crew. His new friends introduce him to a world hidden backstage where they meet magical creatures, traverse shifting landscapes, and discover a mystery about a backstage crew that went missing in this strange realm. With vibrant and colorful characters that fuel representation in their own ways, The Backstagers most definitely earns a spot in our Kindle queue.

Kim & Kim

(Magdalene Visaggio)

If the previous comic was all about escaping, then this one adds big middle finger to the escape. Kim and Kim are inter-dimensional bounty hunters out to break the chains established by their parents and the authorities and leave their mark on the world by pursuing a bold and risky bounty. This series’ titular protagonists are an LGBTQ dynamic duo: one Kim is a trans woman while the other her queer lady friend—a recipe for representation excellence.

Motor Crush

(Brenden Fletcher, Cameron Stewart, Babs Tarr)

This sci-fi anime-like title is high-octane action mixed with pastel aesthetic and is definitely among the top of our Kindle reading lists. Domino Swift is a motorcyclist who lives life in the fast lane, competing in a worldwide motorcycle racing circuit. At night, she competes in violent street races in order to get her hands on Crush, a dangerous and mysterious substance that boosts engine performance. As she climbs the ranks of both racing scenes, Domino slowly discovers strange truths about her mysterious origins and must protect her friends and family (including her estranged ex-girlfriend) from dangerous figures that threaten both her livelihood and theirs.
