The new Apple iPad Air (WiFi) is on sale at Walmart as of March 11:

Walmart is usually pretty quick to offer deals on new Apple products, but this might be a new personal best.

The big box store had the 2022 iPad Air on sale as of March 11 — as in, the tablet's very first day on the market. (It's technically still in its preorder phase but will start shipping out next Friday, March 18.) Grab the 64GB base model for only $559 or upgrade to the 256GB configuration for $679 to score a savings of $40 or $70, respectively.

FWIW, these are the tablet's first and only discounts to date: Amazon, Best Buy, Target, and even the Apple website itself all had it listed at full price when we last checked.

Introduced at Apple's "Peek Performance" event earlier this week, the fifth-generation iPad Air stars the M1 chip that was previously exclusive to last year's powerful-but-pricey iPad Pro. This affords it "faster graphics performance, all-day battery life, better AR features, Smart HDR photos, and more," says Mashable tech reporter Jennimai Nguyen.

Other highlights include 5G support and an Ultra Wide front camera with Apple's Center Stage feature — two more firsts for the iPad Air lineup.
