Artificial intelligence is getting smarter all the time, and Open AI's ChatGPT chatbot has caught the world's attention — and may change the future of how we work. Learning more about how ChatGPT functions is a great way to figure out both its capabilities and limits. Here are a few online courses at reputable educational sites that can help you traverse the waters of this new AI phenomenon. Some are free, others are budget-friendly, and some can provide a professional certificate for a few extra bucks.

  • COURSERA: The site has well-regarded courses on a variety of topics, including a Machine Learning specialization and one on Ethics. $49/month (financial aid available)

  • UDEMY: Udemy allows you to buy separate courses if you wish, and also offers a ChatGPT beginner course that's now starting at $13.99 $84.99 (save $71) Note: Udemy is offering a variety of courses for only $14.99 each until 5:59 p.m. ET today.

  • SKILLSHARE: Skillshare offers a variety of courses on ChatGPT and other subjects. It requires a monthly or annual membership fee. $167.88/year (free 7-day trial available)

Coursera is known for its multiple online courses, including MasterTrack classes that can help people looking for a postgraduate education. At the moment, Coursera's site only includes some free information on how to use ChatGPT. However, the site offers other valuable courses and certifications, including a specialization in both Machine Learning and Ethics in the Age of AI. These are broader looks at the way artificial intelligence affects us, how it works, and what it can do for us. The ethics course also helps students think critically about the implications of using AI in our daily lives. Coursera costs $49 per month to use, but there's financial aid available for people who meet their requirements.

Udemy allows you to purchase separate courses if you wish. If you're interested in learning about how ChatGPT works, there's currently a comprehensive beginner's course that costs only $13.99 (until 5:59 p.m. ET today). This is $71 off its usual price of $84.99. The course is offered in English and includes subtitles in Korean. The course covers how ChatGPT can help you fix programming errors, how you can use it with Excel, and how to write faster using AI.

Note: Udemy is currently offering courses for $14.99 until 5:59 p.m. ET today.

ChatGPT has been touted as a potential aid for marketing teams, social media managers, and other writing-heavy jobs that require a knowledge of online metrics. Skillshare allows members to take an unlimited number of courses once they subscribe to a membership plan. Currently, premium memberships for individuals cost $13.99 per month or $167.88 per year. The site currently hosts a course on how to use ChatGPT for marketing by content strategist Evan Doyle. It goes over how to use ChatGPT, including how to provide the right prompts so you can use it effectively. New members can activate a 7-day free trial.
