Best deals on Echo devices as of Oct. 5:

Yes, holiday shopping has already started. Take a second to be exasperated and then let's just accept it.

There are bound to be people on your shopping list who are nearly impossible to shop for, but Echo devices are a safe bet for almost anyone. My dad is notoriously hard to shop for and last year, I got him an Echo Show 8, which is now in his kitchen. He uses it regularly.

Starting your holiday shopping this early comes with a few perks. For one, you can get ahead of shipping and supply chain delays and make sure your stuff actually arrives on time. Also, Amazon has kicked off early holiday savings, and as of Oct. 5, a few Echo devices are on sale for up to 38% off.

Echo Dot (3rd Gen) — $24.99 (save $15 or 38%)

The Echo Dot is one of Amazon's most popular smart speakers for a reason. It has pretty good sound quality and takes up minimal space — all at an affordable price. Just plug it in, connect to the Alexa app, and start listening to music, set alarms, control smart home devices, and everything else Alexa offers.

Echo Show 8 (1st Gen) — $69.99 (save $40 or 36%)

The Echo Show 8 is a great countertop companion. Its display shows the time and weather and cycles through different Alexa and Amazon features. You can watch videos on it or display recipes to help you in the kitchen. You can also use it to check in on smart home devices with video features, like baby monitors and video doorbells.

Echo Dot (4th Gen) Kids — $39.99 (save $20 or 33%)

Keep kids entertained with a speaker they can talk to. The Echo Dot Kids is equipped with parental controls and kid-friendly content. Kids are able to set alarms and reminders, ask Alexa for homework help, and listen to music or audiobooks.

Echo Show 5 (2nd Gen) Kids — $59.99 (save $35 or 37%)

Amazon recently added a kids' version of the Echo Show 5 to its lineup, so kids can watch shows or make video calls. With the parental controls, parents can set bedtimes and video time limits, so kids won't be sneakily watching TV late into the night.
