Proper lighting doesn't just make it easier to see the things in front of you (although, yes, that is important), it also helps to set the mood. A great light help to extend the fun beyond sunset, keep the party going, and focus in on the task at hand.

MESA is a portable, fold-up light that was built around a simple idea: light should shine on what you're looking at (and not in your eyes.) Ideal for camping, crafting, dinners after dark, and any other time that you need task lighting, MESA is kind of like a desk lamp meets lantern.

"Outdoor lanterns are modeled on old, bulky gas lanterns that fail to take advantage of modern LED technology." -Ravi Varma

MESA is the brainchild of Ravi Varma, an industrial designer based in Brooklyn who was looking for a better way to light up his backyard.

Here's what Ravi has to say on the Kickstarter page for MESA: "Outdoor lanterns are modeled on old, bulky gas lanterns that fail to take advantage of modern LED and battery technology. They also shine light in all directions, creating uncomfortable glare and reducing visibility."

Get your hands on a MESA light by contributing to the Kickstarter campaign here.
