What if it turned out that you were drinking a Big Mac every day? Ok, not like a gross hamburger-shake, but the nutritional equivalent of one.

It’s actually not that hard: if you have a latte in the morning, a Coke in the afternoon, and a single beer at dinner, you probably don’t think you’ve gone too crazy. But, those drinks together have more calories than McDonald’s iconic double burger — and many of us could be easily imbibing that every day.

A new product wants to help you keep track. It’s called Prismcups and it works like this: infrared sensors identify whatever liquid is poured inside and send that info to an app on your smartphone. The app keeps track of how you’re doing and the cup even lights up to send helpful reminders, say, when you ought to have a little more water.

You can check in whenever you want, and use it as a tool to make more informed choices about what you eat and drink.

The smart tumbler, which is raising money on Kickstarter, has already created a successful prototype, and, if it hits its funding goals, plans on being ready to ship next year. If you join the campaign now, you can be one of the first to get a Prismcups tumbler — and get a big discount when it's ready to roll.
