Where to find 75-inch TVs for less than $1,000 ahead of Prime Day

Need guidance at a glance? These are our favorite deals for the weekend of Sept. 25:

Mentally, we're still in March. In reality, it's the first official Friday of fall.

To add to the list of reasons why the 2020 calendar doesn't feel isn't real, Prime Day (typically a July event) was reported by multiple sources to have an official start date of Oct. 13. Just in time for Amazon's biggest event of the year, the tech giant unveiled a heap of new Echo and Fire TV devices.

Anyone who will be relying on their TV for companionship over the next few months should be excited: The new Fire TV experience is supposed to have more easily accessible menus and search tools, but more importantly, the voice-first Alexa experience that regular Echo devices use. A feature that lets you answer Zoom calls from your TV will make for an absolute seamless transition between your morning meetings and afternoon binge of The Undoing.

But if you're down to buy an entirely new TV, here are the ones to snag before Prime Day. What followers are our favorite deals, organized by brand, then size, then price:

Samsung

OUR TOP PICK: Samsung 65-inch Q800T Series 8K UHD Smart TV (QN765Q800TAFXZA — $2,799.99

Seasoned vets who already have 4K in every room in the house might be itching to upgrade. Samsung's 2020 8K line provides an affordable way into 7680 × 4320 resolution and the pristine color and contrast that come with it. This 65-inch model also uses Samsung's Object Tracking+: A collection of six built-in speakers that provide cinematic 3D sound by tracking on-screen motion.

LG

OUR TOP PICK: LG 75-inch 4K UHD LED Smart TV (75UN7070PU) — (save $100)

A 75-inch TV on sale for less than $800? We're sold on that alone — but LG didn't skimp on the quality, either. This webOS TV simplifies streaming service organization (and makes searching easy, even if you don't know which platform carries the show or movie you're looking for). Content is displayed on a 4K IPS display, plus an extra oomph from active HDR.

Sony

OUR TOP PICK: Sony 85-inch X900H Series 4K UHD Smart TV (XBR85X900H) — $2,799.99

If there was ever a year to turn your living room into a makeshift theatre, it'd be 2020. This 85-inch model is a part of Sony's X900H line, which has been labeled as "PlayStation 5 ready" thanks to the HDMI 2.1 capabilities including support 4K120 gaming (4K at 120 pictures per second).
