"May the 4th be with you".

It's May 4th and that can only mean one thing....Star Wars Day.

The first known use of "May the 4th" goes back to 1979, when Margaret Tatcher's team ordered a half-page newspaper advertisement to celebrate her becoming the first woman prime minister in the UK. The message read "May the Fourth Be With You, Maggie. Congratulations".

Star Wars fans were quick to spot the resemblance to the popular quote "may the force be with you". And the rest is history.

Despite the fact the idea did not originate with Lucasfilm, it has fully embraced the fan-made holiday.

There are so many unique products, and exclusive offers on both officially licensed and unofficial Star Wars merchandise. We've hand-picked some of the best for the day that's in it.
