One would think that in the near-century since headphones were first invented in the kitchen of a guy named Nathaniel Baldwin, humanity would have perfected the technology by now. Alas, one would be wrong: Your average headphones — say, those white Apple earbuds that everyone and their brother seems to have — are so tangle-prone that Jeff Goldblum sold them in a fictional artisanal knot store on Portlandia

The Audeze iSine 10 In-Ear Headphones, however, are not your average headphones. A 2017 CES Innovation Honoree, these funky, futuristic, and comfy headphones apparently use patented Fluxor™ Magnets and Uniforce™ voice-coil technology to deliver a listening experience like none other — and everyone's taking notice.

According to the product listing, the secret to iSine's striking sound quality is 30mm planar-magnetic drivers, a type of speaker technology that previously only existed in headphones with large ear pads. According to Audeze's website, this unique design consists of a diaphragm with circuit and magnet arrays that produces an electromagnetic force when energized with an audio signal. The resulting sound, which can be customized in real time using the Audeze iOS app, has an overall distortion of less than 0.1%, even at high volumes.

Oh, and good news for Apple disciples: Every pair of iSine headphones includes a specially optimized CIPHER™ Lightning cable that produces 24-bit digital audio from your iPhone, iPod, or iPad, meaning you can (finally) throw out those cheap buds that came free with the purchase of your device.
