UPDATE: Mar. 25, 2026, 5:00 a.m. EDT New robot vacuums from Roborock, Dreame, and Narwal were all announced at CES 2026 in January. I'm in the process of testing all of them at home and am updating this guide accordingly as they're released for public purchase.

There's definitely something to be said for the crisp handheld control of a good cordless stick vacuum. But if you don't consider cleaning cathartic, the best robot vacuums can cross that chore off your to-do list for good.

And after testing nearly 40 robot vacuums on my own personal floors (my apartment is very clean), I can confidently curate a handful of robot vacuum recommendations that'll make your life easier — and fit your budget. Here are the best robot vacuums to buy as of early 2026.

I test new robot vacuums on a regular basis and compare them to the top performers from previous months, with all my evaluations taking place in my own home on various rugs, tile, and hardwood floors. As I test each robot vacuum and tweak its settings for optimal performance, I keep notes on its overall suction power vigor, scrubbing efficacy (if it's a robot vacuum and mop combo), pet hair pickup, the convenience of its automatic emptying and self-washing mopping pads, accuracy of smart mapping and small obstacle avoidance, and the overall user experience. But the final boss here is cost efficiency — I'll be the first one to point out when a cheap robot vacuum actually works well for the price, or when a high-end robot vacuum is actually worth the splurge or not.

When do robot vacuums go on sale?

Regardless of what you're aiming to spend, the pool of vacuums in your price range is bound to grow during Amazon's 2026 Big Spring Sale. No, it's not just a spring cleaning-centric sale, but robot vacuums are a major deals category for any major Amazon sale — every robot vacuum in this guide will likely see a new record-low discount. In fact, many spring robot vacuum deals were already live at Amazon ahead of the spring sale's official window: March 25 through 31 this year.

Our Pick

The Good & The Bad

  • Barely three inches tall
  • Market-leading 35,000 Pa suction power is great on high pile
  • Dual spinning mopping pads scrub corners and edges closely
  • Scrubs with 212-degree Fahrenheit water
  • Very quiet when self-emptying and in max suction mode
  • Auto-dispenses two types of detergent
  • Livestream pet camera
  • Accurate small obstacle avoidance
  • Struggles with debris near rug edges
  • Threshold scaling max of 3.47 inches is still pretty limited
  • Phone charger avoidance isn't 100% perfect

Our review

Read my initial review of the Dreame X60 Max Ultra Complete.

Who it's for

The Dreame X60 Max Ultra Complete is an incredibly well-rounded premium robot vacuum that would excel in a variety of homes. Its market-leading 35,000 suction power and livestream pet camera make it the top contender for homes with pets. Its dual spinning mopping pads are more precise around edges than a flat mop or a roller mop, speaking to anyone who'd cringe watching a robot vacuum completely ignore a corner or wall edge. (Hi, I'm "anyone.")

Measuring just over three inches tall, it's also easily the best slim robot vacuum out there — ideal for homes with low-clearance furniture, or expectations for cleaning under cabinets.

Why we picked this

It happened: The Roborock Saros 10R has finally been dethroned as the best robot vacuum for corner mopping. Dreame should enjoy its reign while it can before Roborock's 2026 flagship comes out this spring: The Saros 20 Sonic matches the X60 Max Ultra Complete's suction power and introduces an interesting new method of edge mopping. The conversation about the best robot vacuum of the year is about to get interesting.

After Dreame's release of a flagship roller mop robot vacuum in September, I appreciate its return to dual rotating mopping pads in its CES 2026 star, the X60 Max Ultra Complete. The double pad design just offers so much more precision along edges and in 90-degree angles. Like the Roborock Saros 10R, I've watched the X60 Max Ultra Complete scoot the vacuum's circular body as close to a wall as possible, then extend a spinning mop right up against the wall, along table legs, or against kitchen counter edges. At just 3.1 inches tall, the X60 Max Ultra can even reach the sticky floor under the overhang of my fridge.

The Dreame X60 Max Ultra Complete's mopping capabilities are intensified by the use of hot water during mopping. (The Saros 10R washes its mops with hot water, but doesn't actively mop with hot water.) That has been key in melting stubborn dried stains on hard floors, like the massive dried puddle of dirty snow slush and salt that was accumulating for days near my front door. Water stains were a struggle for most 2-in-1 vacuums I've tested, but the X60 Max Ultra Complete left the hardwood gleaming.

The X60 Max Ultra Complete's carpet performance has also stood out to me. It didn't flinch at the war zone of spilled sprinkles and cat hair that I created on a furry high-pile rug, leaving behind just a few minuscule sprinkles and a few ultra-fine hairs. Its pickup rate for rice, powdered sugar, and kitty litter on hardwood and tile was just as reliable, though bits of debris hiding near the lip of my kitchen Ruggable were missed on multiple occasions. I can just pull the rug back an inch in that case, though such intense suction power shouldn't get tripped up by such a negligible change in plane.

Details

The Good & The Bad

  • Has already gone on sale for $849.99, despite being brand new
  • Sturdy roller mop soaks up large spills and chunks
  • Rinses itself while mopping to prevent smearing
  • More detailed edge mopping than competitors
  • Lifting chassis smoothly avoids getting stuck on rugs
  • Suction boost mode for large particles like kibble and litter
  • Extremely competent pet waste and cord avoidance
  • Quiet cleaning and auto-emptying
  • Livestream pet camera
  • Mops edges well, but all roller mops struggle with corners
  • Debris occasionally left around rug edges
  • Not very slim with LiDAR tower raised
  • Have to manually add detergent to tank

Our review

Read my initial review of the Roborock Qrevo Curv 2 Flow.

Who it's for

The Roborock Qrevo Curv 2 Flow's sturdy self-rinsing roller mop would be most reliable in busy, spill-prone households with multiple kids or pets. It would flourish in a home with multiple floor types, including steep thresholds in doorways or any shallow sunken rooms separated by a step.

Why we picked this

If you've sworn off mopping robot vacuums after a cheap one left your floor streaked in dirty water, a roller mop robot vacuum should be your next move — the Roborock Qrevo Curv 2 Flow is my favorite of 2026 so far. The biggest standout: Its extending roller mop has been able to get closer to baseboards and appliances than other roller mops that struggle around edges.

Smearing is prevented in a few ways: The roller is constantly rinsing itself with clean water as it's mopping, but if it gets too soiled, the Curv 2 Flow automatically returns to the dock mid-cleaning queue to wash the mop with hot water. Its fluffy bath towel texture is also more absorbent than the cloth on spinning mopping pads in general. I entrusted it to tackle a variety of liquids in my apartment, from wine and Bloody Mary mix, to chunky queso, to a thick pudge of leave-in conditioner that exploded on my bathroom floor. Those spills would have taken a ton of paper towels, but the Curv 2 Flow wiped each up without leaving residue behind. (For large spills, I always toggle for two cleaning passes just to be safe.)

Its 20,000 Pa suction sounds mediocre compared to the 30,000 Pa to 35,000 Pa of other 2026 flagship vacuums, but the difference in pickup rate has been negligible in my testing. It has consistently picked up 95 to 97 percent of various kitchen and snack crumbs, layers of cat hair as well as larger tufts, long human hair, and powders like pancake mix on both hard floors and multiple rug piles. The Curv 2 Flow has been such a beast at keeping up with the crystal cat litter that gets tracked onto my tile bathroom floor. Any dust specks or fine hairs that are too small to be sucked up get lapped up by the damp roller.

Eufy C28 robot vacuum mopping tile bathroom floor near shower wall

Eufy C28

Best budget roller mop

The Good & The Bad

  • Almost always on sale for less than $600
  • Very compact self-empty dock/mop washing station
  • Square shape helps clean close to walls
  • Pressurized roller mop rinses itself in real time
  • Vacuums slowly and meticulously on second pass, especially along rug edges
  • Competent small obstacle avoidance for the price
  • Great battery life
  • Tall enough to get stuck under bottom cabinets and dishwasher
  • Auto-emptying is very loud
  • Makes odd navigational choices sometimes

Our review

Read my initial review of the Eufy C28.

Who it's for

The Eufy C28 is an awesome find for shoppers who can spend more than a few hundred bucks, but don't want to toe the $1,000 line. Its roller mop is targeted toward the cleanup of large liquid spills, easily making the C28 the best budget robot vacuum mop combo for fast-paced homes and in-the-moment cleanup. The AI-powered small obstacle avoidance will come in handy if you don't always have time to tidy up before sending the vacuum out.

This particular Eufy robovac also has some of the best battery life on the market (even on its highest suction setting), making it an even easier choice for homes with lots of square footage or multiple stories.

Why we picked this

Before the Eufy C28 came out in February 2026, a budget in the $600 to $800 range meant you were strictly relegated to hybrid robot vacuums with dual spinning mopping pads. Though their precision has its advantages, the thin pads aren't overly absorbent. The C28 finally answers the call of spill-prone households who need something more heavy-duty (and less likely to smear). The HydroJet system rinses the mop nine times per second as it's mopping to prevent smearing.

The Eufy C28 nearly doubles the 8,000 Pa suction power seen in the Eufy X10 Pro Omni (my budget mopping pick for the past two years). I've been consistently wowed by the C28 fuzz and debris pickup on various rug piles. From catnip flakes to tufts of dryer lint to handfuls of crushed chips, I really had to squint to find a few tiny pieces that the C28 left behind. The Eufy C28 gets bonus points for its slow, deliberate vacuuming when spot cleaning the tricky area where a rug changes to hardwood — its crumb pickup around rug edges has actually been more reliable than premium Roborock and Dreame models.

Its performance on hardwood and tile has been even more stellar. The damp roller presses down firmly to wipe up dust and pet hair on hardwood that would stick to the floor during regular vacuuming. The laser on my Dyson PencilVac proved that the C28 left the floor around both litter boxes essentially spotless on multiple occasions.

3i G10+ robot vacuum cleaning rug near green couch

3i G10+

Best budget robot vacuum under $300

The Good & The Bad

  • Occasionally on sale for under $400
  • 18,000 Pa suction power is wicked at any price point
  • Deals with dust for 60+ days without an auto-empty dock
  • Reliable small obstacle avoidance
  • Live stream pet camera is so rare at this price
  • Smart mapping is incredibly accurate and detailed
  • Can be stored under furniture
  • Physical design isn't exactly chic
  • Mopping is pretty basic

Our review

Read my review of the 3i G10+.

Who it's for

If you're set on spending less than $300 on a robot vacuum, there are virtually no reasons to choose any model other than the 3i G10+. Between its ability to maneuver around clutter and its dust-compacting, space-saving design, the 3i G10+ is the best robot vacuum for small spaces with limited floor storage.

This niche pick also eclipses any other cheap robot vacuum in the suction power department. While it's a strong budget pick for homes with pets or a lot of carpeting, its basic mopping skills should rule it out for homes with intense mopping needs.

Why we picked this

This was the first robot vacuum I've ever tested from 3i, and it became one of my most recommended robot vacuums of the year. While its dust-compacting element is cool because it saves you the space a self-empty dock would take up, it's hardly the G10+'s only monumental feature.

For such an inexpensive robot vacuum, I was thoroughly impressed by the G10+'s perceptive navigation around my apartment. Its initial mapping run of the rooms was almost 100 percent accurate — it even recognized beds, credenzas, and toilets all on its own, and automatically remembered where all of the rugs were. The 3i G10+ is also an incredibly rare budget option with small obstacle avoidance that can steer clear of cords or socks, plus pet waste (I tested this with a pile of brown sugar). But small obstacle avoidance isn't the only high-end feature 3i squeezed in here — there's also a livestream pet camera. That was firmly a $1,000+ robot vacuum feature before the G10+ hit the scene.

All of that brainpower isn't just fluff, either. The G10+ is a beast at cleaning. Its 18,000 Pa of suction power is super high for this price range, and you can tell that the G10+ is working hard as it moves extra meticulously when carpet is sensed, or during zone cleaning.

Robot vacuum and stick vacuum attachment sitting against wall on hardwood floor

Eufy E20 3-in-1

Best if you also want a stick vacuum

The Good & The Bad

  • Frequently on sale for under $400
  • Shockingly affordable for a robot and stick vacuum combo
  • Suction power of both vacuums is powerful for the price
  • 75 day self-empty dust capacity
  • Room by room smart mapping is quite accurate
  • Dock is very compact
  • Doesn't mop
  • A bit loud and rickety
  • Exposed motor isn't the most aesthetically appealing design

Our review

Read my review of the Eufy E20 3-in-1.

Who it's for

The percentage of homes that would benefit from having both a robot vacuum and a manual stick vacuum is probably 100 percent. In a perfect world, right? If you don't have the space, budget, or patience for that, the Eufy E20 3-in-1 is a really strategic way to maximize a mid-range budget. The E20 would have serious daily usability if your idea of a clean home goes past the floors to crevices like windowsills, car seats, staircases, or the pit of despair between couch cushions.

Why we picked this

In a sea of $1,500+ vacuums, Eufy was genius to take the "bang for your buck" approach with its CES 2025 contender. At $649.99, the Eufy E20 3-in-1 isn't all that steep for a self-emptying, smart mapping robot vacuum, let alone the bonus cordless vacuum it brings along. Here, 3-in-1 refers to the robot vacuum, cordless stick vacuum, and handheld modes. Switching between these modes just involves pulling the motor out of the robot vacuum body and clicking it onto one of the included attachments.

The Eufy E20 definitely isn't the most powerful robot vacuum I've tested, nor is it as powerful as my favorite Dyson vacuum, which I should note has an identical price tag. We already know that its real power lies in its range, but for the value, its robotic and handheld cleaning capabilities would actually suffice for any casual cleaner. At 8,000 Pa, it vacuums with the same amount of suction power as 2024's Eufy X10 Pro Omni, which also impressed me during testing. Its pickup rate of fine debris along edges and long hairs on rugs could be better, but the E20 reliably took care of all visible crumbs and loose tufts of pet hair on most rugs, hardwood, and tile.

While the Eufy E20 can avoid items like toys over 15 millimeters or pet food bowls, its obstacle avoidance doesn't extend to flatter items like cords or socks. Its navigation to specific rooms and zones, however, was nearly perfect in my apartment. It surveyed the three bedrooms and bathrooms extremely accurately on the first try, and after I added an extra border or two, the E20 reliably made its way to selected spots on a daily basis — and without getting stuck on a bath mat or under a bed.

The Good & The Bad

  • Frequently on sale for $379.99
  • Very quiet, especially when self-emptying
  • Five-digit suction power is rare in this price range
  • Affordable small obstacle avoidance for laundry and pet waste
  • Sonic mopping actually scrubs with pressure
  • LiDAR smart mapping is quick, accurate, and color-coded
  • Mopping is thorough, but pad gets gross quickly
  • Dock is compact, but robot itself isn't very slim
  • Skimps on edge mopping

Who it's for

This Roborock robot vacuum is ideal for those who don't want to spend much more than $500, but who also don't want to settle for the most basic cleaning possible. This 2025 entry-level model is the rare cheap robot vacuum and mop combo with legitimate pressurized scrubbing — a nice upgrade for hardwood floors or entryways with high foot (or paw) traffic. Its self-empty dock barely takes up two feet of floor space, and its noise level is quite low, making it a great robot vacuum for small spaces.

Why we picked this

Unlike iRobot, Roborock has always been a brand that gives ample attention to the budget-friendly half of its product line. So it's saying something that I think the Roborock Q10 S5+ is the best bang for your buck near $500 that Roborock has whipped up in a long time. It has reliably completed all missions in my apartment for weeks, and isn't nearly as obnoxious when self-emptying as most other robot vacuums I've tested — it barely reaches 70 decibels, which isn't much louder than competitors while they're just cleaning.

The Roborock Q8 Max+ has probably popped up in your research for the best robot vacuum and mop combo on a budget. Roborock itself says that the Q10 S5+ is the direct successor of that model, and there's no reason not to upgrade: The Q10 S5+ nearly doubles the suction power — 10,000 Pa versus the Q8 Max+'s 5,500 Pa — which makes it just as powerful as the high-end Roborock Qrevo Master that I loved in 2024. While I do prefer the spinning mopping pad design found on more premium Roborocks, the forceful vibrations of the Q10 S5+'s singular mopping pad provide more thorough scrubbing than many cheap 2-in-1 vacuums. The Q10 S5+ successfully wiped up a variety of spills and splatters in my kitchen and near the cat bowls, though it doesn't mop very close to edges.

Roborock has consistently shown me the most user-friendly app experience. The Q10 S5+ supports the same color-coded home map with the same straightforward room and zone cleaning options, and never once got lost in my apartment when navigating to a particular spot. Unlike the Shark Matrix Plus 2-in-1 (which was previously in this spot on our list), the Q10 S5+ automatically lifts the mop when carpets and rugs are detected. Small obstacle avoidance is also a bonus at this price point.

The Good & The Bad

  • Frequently on sale for under $300
  • Better suction power than the Roomba i5 or Roomba 694
  • LiDAR mapping correctly identifies specific rooms
  • Four versions mix and match mopping and automatic emptying
  • Doesn't always smoothly get over rugs
  • No small obstacle avoidance technology
  • Not enough suction power for shedding from multiple pets
  • iRobot filed for bankruptcy, leaving future uncertain

UPDATE: iRobot filed for bankruptcy on Dec. 15, 2025, and has been acquired by Roomba manufacturer Picea. While Roombas are still available to buy as usual, I would recommend deprioritizing a Roomba in your robot vacuum search. There are robot vacuums with better features at better prices out there, and with iRobot's rocky future now layered in, even the best Roomba vacuums aren't worth it.

Who it's for

If you absolutely must have the iRobot name under your roof, the Roomba 105 series vacuums are iRobot's most advanced and fairly-priced entry-level robot vacuums to date. They'd be ideal for the crowd who is totally fine with settling for a not-amazing-but-decent clean if it affordably lightens their chore load. It'd be a fine addition to an apartment or small space with low foot traffic and relatively simple layouts.

It's also nice that you can customize your choice to the features you need in your house — and how much you want to spend. There are four versions of the Roomba 105: a standalone mopping and non-mopping version, and a self-emptying mopping and non-mopping version. They all have huge discounts quite often, dropping both standalone models below $200 and both self-emptying models below $300.

Why we picked this

To be real, any random Roomba you could pick out is probably being upstaged by a different brand's robot vacuum with the same price tag. But if you insist on trying a Roomba, the 2025 Roomba 105 series vacuums definitely offer better bang for your buck over any of the low-budget Roombas.

The most impactful upgrade from the i5 to the 105 lies in suction power: The Roomba 105 offers 60 times the suction of 600 series Roombas like the Roomba 694 or Roomba 675, while the Roomba i5 offers just 10 times the power of the 600 series. This translates to 7,000 Pa in suction power for the 105. On my apartment's hard floors, the 105 had a commendable track record for the price — it sucked up most tracked kitty litter and spilled protein powder, and grabbed all but one or two heavy pieces of dry cat food. On rugs, most loose crumbs and visible fuzzies were taken care of, though matted-down cat fur required a second pass from a stick vacuum.

iRobot also finally shifted to LiDAR-based smart mapping with its 2025 Roombas, which ultimately just means faster, more precise room mapping. The Roomba 105 successfully made it to the selected rooms and zones in my apartment 95 percent of the time, despite the new Roomba Home app being significantly more basic than the old one.

Recent changes to this guide

March 2026: I added the Roborock Qrevo Curv 2 Flow as the best roller mop robot vacuum, replacing the Dreame Aqua10 Ultra Roller. Though the Dreame has more powerful suction on paper, the Curv 2 Flow demonstrated better edge mopping and comparable vacuuming. I also replaced the Eufy X10 Pro Omni with the Eufy C28 and shifted it to my budget roller mop pick. The X10 Pro Omni is two years old at this point, and the new C28 offers more advanced cleaning and obstacle avoidance.

January 2026: I added the Dreame X60 Max Ultra Complete as the best robot vacuum right now and shifted the Aqua10 Ultra to the best roller mop robot vacuum. The Roborock Saros 10R, which was listed as the best option for corner cleaning, has been removed from the list. It costs nearly the same amount as the X60 Max Ultra Complete, which has near-identical corner mopping abilities and much stronger suction power.

December 2025: I added a disclaimer to the pick for best Roomba value in light of iRobot's bankruptcy news.

October 2025: I added the Dreame Aqua10 Ultra Roller as the best robot vacuum right now and shifted the Roborock Saros 10R (previously named the best robot vacuum right now) to the option for best corner cleaning.

July 2025: I removed the Shark Matrix Plus 2-in-1 robot vacuum from this guide. While it was a solid budget mopping robot vacuum for its first year or so on the market, it's now a little bit too basic compared to other newer budget robot vacuums.

Frequently Asked Questions

Most robot vacuum run times range between 120 and 180 minutes, which translates to about 500 and 2,600 square feet covered on one charge. Some ultra-efficient models can clock over 200 minutes on one charge, which would only really matter in homes exceeding 3,000 square feet. Larger spaces or homes with multiple stories obviously require more time to clean, and how much you prioritize battery life depends on how annoyed you'll be if your robot vac has to take a time out during its queue to charge.

How we tested

I've been testing robot vacuums for Mashable since 2019 — most recently in a three-bedroom, two-cat apartment.

All of these vacuums were tested for at least four weeks. I put them through a series of standardized tests that cover the four main pillars of robot vacuum competence, while also considering overall bang for your buck.

Cleaning abilities

Each vacuum tackles various spills, debris, levels of pet hair, and floor types. I also tested hybrid vacuum and mop combo models on various stains and spills.

Navigation

I keep tabs on navigational accuracy when it comes to smart mapping my home, finding specific rooms and zones, and identifying small obstacles using LiDAR or cameras.

User friendliness

Your new robot vacuum should be a polite houseguest. I make sure each vacuum isn't too loud, an eyesore, or generally a pain to use.

Maintenance

Many robot vacuums automate their own dust bin emptying, mopping pad washing, and more — the more self-sufficient they are, the better.
