Sky has laid out its plans for an all-new broadband bundle, called Sky Broadband Ultrafast. This new package is designed to bring as much speed as possible to multiple devices at once. Sky says you will be able to watch videos in ultra 4K HD, stream video, games, and music without any trace of strain on the WiFi.

The UK provider has said Ultrafast will provide an initial two million households with access to speeds that are 12 times faster than the standard broadband package from Sky, with download speeds reaching between 145Mbps and 285Mbps. This depends on what package you opt for, but these speeds are more than fast enough to match both BT and Virgin Media’s top ultrafast broadband deals.

Netflix recommends an average of 25 Mbps to stream its Ultra HD quality shows, while the new Google Stadia is suggesting 35Mbps will be enough to stream triple-A blockbuster titles at 60-frames-per-second. So these new broadband offerings from Sky will be more than capable of handling the most strenuous tasks, all at the same time.

Sky Broadband Ultrafast 1, with average download speeds of 145Mbps, is priced at just £44 a month for 18 months. 

Virgin Media does currently have a very good deal on its ultrafast broadband offerings, so it will be interesting to see if Sky adjusts its price to try to challenge the competition even further. A little competition in the market is definitely a good thing, so expect prices to alter across multiple providers once Sky launches the new service.

When it comes to basic broadband packages, Sky's offering is relatively simple. You can choose between an 'Essential' package that runs at 11Mbps download speed, or the Superfast Fibre option, running at 59Mbps.

The Superfast option should be perfect for most households, as Netflix recommends a consistent 25Mbps to stream shows in Ultra HD quality. 

These offerings are strong and present good value, decent performance, and a shiny customer service record. You can even opt into Sky's 'Broadband Boost' service for just £2.50 extra a month if you're inclined. This includes a new remote control app for your internet, flexible engineer visits, and daily line checks. 

You won't hit speeds as high as BT or Virgin unless you go for the new ultrafast packages, but if you aren't desperate to secure the very top speeds, Sky could be the provider for you.

Similar to BT and Virgin, Sky offers bundle deals for its TV and broadband packages. 

This can be a good way to go about covering your home, as your bill will be under one provider, making it more simple. This can also turn out to be a much cheaper way of getting TV and broadband coverage. 

One of the best packages on offer is the Superfast plus Entertainment bundle, for only £39 per month. This usually costs £49 per month if bought separately.

There is also a deal for sports fans. If you're looking to get Sky Sports to watch the new Premier League season, you can pay £62 a month for broadband, entertainment, a Sky Q box, and Sky Sports.
