If you’re a fan of The Office, you'll remember one of the worst moments in Pam Beesley's life was in Season 6, episode 7, "The Lover" — the revelation that her mum Helene and her boss Michael Scott were engaged in amorous congress.

That’s basically the storyline of Netflix’s latest romantic comedy, in which Zara (Joey King) endures an overtly lusty relationship between her mum (Nicole Kidman) and her boss (Zac Efron).

Directed by Richard Lagravenese and written by Carrie Solomon, A Family Affair promises to turn this awkward situation into a heartfelt dalliance into unexpected love, but it’s still giving me the absolute ick.

A Family Affair is streaming on Netflix from June 28.
