We still don't know much about this sci-fi mystery, but it does involve a trip to the Red Planet.

Ground control to Major Tommy Lee Jones, anyone?

Ad Astra continues to be a mystery. Brad Pitt plays an astronaut, also the son of another, more famous astronaut played by Tommy Lee Jones. Dear old dad is lost somewhere out there in the great void, and Pitt's Roy McBridge heads to the edge of the solar system to find him.

Donald Sutherland plays some kind of mentor-type astronaut and Ruth Negga is... there. Sorry. I wish I had more. This trailer doesn't do any kind of justice to her character, even though she's one of the movie's stars. Maybe her identity is part of the puzzle.

There's also some hint of a grave planetary threat, so the central mystery is a bit more than just a family matter. All will be revealed soon: Ad Astra hits theaters on Sept. 20, almost a month after its Aug. 29 premiere at the Venice Film Festival.
