Love threatens friendship in Karan Johar's 'Ae Dil Hai Mushkil' trailer

"Love is crooked."

That just one of many offbeat platitudes offered in the trailer for director Karan Johar's Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, which promises to unravel definitions of love and friendship as Johar has been for almost two decades.

The film tells the story of best friends Ayan (Ranbir Kapoor) and Alizeh (Anushka Sharma), who swear by the security of their friendship to not bend it out of shape into love. And as can sometimes happen, that equilibrium is dismantled -- first by the courtship of Ali (Fawad Khan) to Alizeh, and then by Ayan falling intoxicatingly in love with Saba (Aishwarya Rai Bachchan).

Friendship and love have always been central to Johar's writing, directing and producing, and Ae Dil Hai Mushkil will once again weave those themes together along with music from Pritam.

Ae Dil Hai Mushkil premieres on Oct. 28.
