Alex Trebek released an update after one year of life after his pancreatic cancer diagnosis.

"The one year survival rate for stage four pancreatic cancer patients is 18 percent," Trebek said in a video posted Wednesday. "I'm very happy to report that I have just reached that marker."

The 79-year-old Jeopardy! host announced his diagnosis in March 2019. In September, he revealed that although he had been making progress, he had to go through another round of chemotherapy after "curves and unexpected events" in treatment.

"I joked with friends that the cancer won't kill me, the chemo treatments will," Trebek said in his most recent update, pondering if it was worth it. "But I pushed that would have been a massive betrayal."

He noted that with all of the support he's received — from his wife, his fans, and other cancer patients — he felt like he couldn't give up.

Trebek added that his oncologist encouraged him to look forward to his second anniversary of his diagnosis. The two year survival rate is about seven percent.

"If I — no, if we — if we take it just one day at a time with a positive attitude, anything is possible," Trebek concluded. "I'll keep you posted."
