Alexa will play The Lonely Island if you ask for 'some hot garbage'

On Thursday, The Lonely Island uploaded a video of themselves asking an Amazon Alexa to play them "some hot garbage." Alexa started shuffling songs by -- you guessed it -- The Lonely Island.

If you have an Alexa, you too can share in this fun experience. You do have to be specific in your wording, though: Based on our rigorous testing, the only command that will actually work is "Alexa, play me some hot garbage." As Nerdist pointed out, you can't omit any of the words.

The YouTube version of the video links out to Amazon Music, so this is probably a business partnership -- not evidence that Alexa is programmed to hate the group responsible for the deeply underrated "Jack Sparrow." Still, we'll take whatever opportunity we can to say the phrase "hot garbage" out loud. It's the little things.

We've reached out to Amazon for comment, and we'll update this post when we hear back.
