Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez explains why she sent Kellyanne Conway a subpoena

When you don't show up for work, the last thing you want is for someone to spot you skiving off.

But, when White House staffer Kellyanne Conway didn't show up to a House hearing and instead called into Fox and Friends, it didn't exactly go down well.

In fact, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and the rest of the committee sent Conway a subpoena.

"We called her into the committee because she has violated what is known as the Hatch Act," AOC told Stephen Colbert on The Late Show on Wednesday. "You're not supposed to use your official office for a partisan campaign purpose."

"You can't say 'I as a White House official endorse x or y policy,'" she added.

But after being called in for a hearing, Conway failed to show up.

"So there's this empty table that just says 'Ms Conway' there and she went on Fox and Friends," said AOC. "It's like when you call in sick to work and someone finds you at the grocery store or something ... You're getting a subpoena!"
