Nintendo's original idea for its Animal Crossing mobile game looked quite different from what we received with Pocket Camp, YouTuber Game History Guy a.k.a Liam Robertson revealed in his above video Saturday.

According to Robertson, the first working title for the mobile game was Animal Crossing: Town Builder, and it tasked players with designing and keeping up their own towns. This version of the game lived mostly inside of menus; player's couldn't walk around and interact with things like they can in Pocket Camp.

Luckily, the internal team wasn't a big fan of town building and the game was rebuilt to what we have now. Though we still wish we had more social features.
