The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) is a massive institution of superheroes with timelines that are confusing for even the most die hard fans.

No wonder that newcomer to the MCU Annette Bening had to call in some help before taking on the role as the Supreme Intelligence in the upcoming Captain Marvel movie.

Speaking to Stephen Colbert on The Late Show, Bening said that she relied on her two children to explain the complex Marvelverse to her.

"When I read the script, I did find it slightly confusing," Bening said. "I took into my confidence [...] two of my kids [...] and asked them to please explain to me what the hell was going on."
