You may be a fan of Ashton Kutcher's mustache, and you may not be. It doesn't really matter. The thing is here to stay.

During an appearance on The Tonight Show, Kutcher explained to Jimmy Fallon the origins of his current facial hair -- and it turns out it all comes back to an Adele party.

"My wife has a friend who's this very famous English singer, let's just say, and she throws these birthday parties and they're kind of lavish," says Kutcher, before Fallon immediately cuts in and guesses Adele. After a brief singing interlude, Kutcher goes on to describe how he found out on the day of the party that it was '70s themed -- hence the mustache.

"So we show up and I'm looking round, and nobody else is in 1970s anything!" says Kutcher. "The theme for the party's 1930s New Year and I look like ****ing Burt Reynolds from Boogie Nights!"

The reason the mustache has yet to be shaved off?

"Now it's a spite stache and I'm keeping it!" proclaims Kutcher.
