Greedy snake gobbles entire beach towel, heroic vets extract the whole thing

It's difficult to describe the emotions one goes through when watching an 18-year-old jungle carpet python get a beach towel extracted from its very full tum.

If we had to try, though, we'd probably go for a healthy mixture of unease, disgust and — finally — sweet relief.

"The snake ate the towel of her own accord, and she has never done anything like this before," a spokesperson for Sydney's Small Animal Special Hospital (SASH), the emergency veterinary centre that treated Monty, told Mashable. "The owner (Daniel) bought in Monty the day after they suspected she had eaten the entire towel."

In order to extract the towel — in a procedure which saved Monty's life — vets used a combination of radiographs (to find the towel's location), a flexible endoscope (to see the towel itself), and of course, a healthy dose of anaesthetic.

"Monty has recovered really well and she is back to eating as per normal," the spokesperson said.

Stay away from those towels, Monty.
