Typically, we only get 30 seconds from that first feeling of a lump in our throat to full blown sobbing. Luckily, Amazon Studios' new trailer has blessed us all with months to prepare for the inevitable ugly crying that will accompany Beautiful Boy.

Steve Carell and Timothée Chalamet star as father and son, David and Nic Sheff. The story is based on David and Nic's memoirs, recounting Nic's battle with addiction and the fall out that rippled through his family.

Maura Tierney and Amy Ryan round out the cast. (We imagine Ryan and Carell won't be engaging in any Holly and Michael shenanigans this time around, but one can still hope.)

The film is already receiving Oscar buzz, but won't hit theaters until October 12th.
