What do you get when you mix the soapy shenanigans of Desperate Housewives with an Oscar-caliber cast? The answer is HBO's upcoming limited series, Big Little Lies, directed by Dallas Buyers Club helmer Jean-Marc Vallée and penned by David E. Kelley.
The dark comedy -- which is based on the book by Liane Moriarty -- stars Nicole Kidman, Reese Witherspoon and Shailene Woodley as three mothers whose seemingly perfect lives begin to unravel to the point of murder. The cast also features Alexander Skarsgård, Laura Dern, Adam Scott and Zoe Kravitz.
While the teaser is light on plot details, it's certainly heavy on dramatic visuals, sexy exploits and an undercurrent of suburban ennui. In other words, it'll be HBO's next hit.
