The first official trailer for Black Adam has arrived, giving us a look at Dwayne Johnson in action as the titular DC Comics villain/anti-hero. It's been a long time coming.

Though Black Adam is a spin-off of Shazam!, the titular characters being archenemies in the comics, the upcoming movie looks far from the light, comedic tone of its predecessor. This seems fair, considering we already saw Black Adam (aka Teth-Adam) grab a man by his neck and fry him to ash in a teaser last year.

Black Adam will also introduce the Justice Society of America — not to be confused with its movie predecessor and comic successor the Justice League of America. This superhero team will include lesser known heroes such as Hawkman (Aldis Hodge), Atom Smasher (Noah Centineo), Cyclone (Quintessa Swindell), and Doctor Fate (Pierce Brosnan).

Black Adam arrives in theatres Oct. 21.
