Within the world of Wakanda, Shuri is responsible for most of that futuristic tech we saw in Black Panther.

In the real world, though, we've got production designer Hannah Beachler to thank for it.

As Beachler explains in this exclusive featurette from the Black Panther Blu-ray and digital release, she and her team drew extensively from the work of comic book artist Jack Kirby.

At the same time, however, they made sure to keep one foot grounded in the real world, so that Wakanda would still feel like a part of our world.

Just, you know, a part of our world with way cooler, sexier, sleeker tech.

For a closer look, check out Black Panther when it hits digital May 8 and Blu-ray May 15.
