The Flash has come and gone, failing to generate hype and bombing at the box office along the way. But DC has one more chance to wow us this summer, and that's the upcoming Blue Beetle.

Blue Beetle introduces a new superhero to the DC universe: Jaime Reyes (Xolo Maridueña). He's a recent college graduate with a loving family, but his whole world shifts when he comes in possession of a piece of alien biotechnology known as "the Scarab." The Scarab chooses Jaime as a host, giving him powers of flight and an impressive arsenal of weaponry, along with a snazzy blue supersuit. As malicious forces search for the Scarab and threaten Jaime's family, he'll fight to protect them and the world, becoming the hero known as "Blue Beetle" in the process.

Blue Beetle hits theaters Aug. 18.
