The DCEU just got bluer.

Warner Bros. Pictures has released its first look at the upcoming Blue Beetle, the 14th film in the DC Extended Universe, which introduces hero Jaime Reyes (Xolo Maridueña) and his titular alter ego.

A recent college graduate, Jaime is searching for his purpose in the world. Instead, he finds a piece of biotechnology known as the Scarab, which chooses Jaime as its symbiotic host. Now, with a high-tech suit of armor and incredible new powers — including flying to space and creating a massive sword — Jaime will become the Blue Beetle and fight to save the world from those who wish it harm.

Despite plenty of spectacle and a sinister Susan Sarandon, the biggest surprise comes at the end of the trailer, when Jaime's uncle Rudy (George Lopez) declares, "Batman is a fascist." Given DC's usual reverence for Batman, that is quite the closing line — and I can't wait to see how it plays out.

Blue Beetle hits theaters Aug. 18.
