Fast-moving wildfires are devastating parts of California, killing at least 11 people and injuring hundreds more. Vegetation that grew during the record wet season this year has dried, after the state’s hottest summer on record, providing the perfect fuel for the fires.
Fanned by strong winds and dry conditions, wildfires blazed through parts of wine country, as well as parts of Southern California.
