Chinese ad breaks down borders and brings people together with sports and beer

Look no further for proof that a round of beer can bring people together.

Harbin Beer is the latest company to appeal to our emotions with a short documentary-style ad that was shot across five locations in 30 days.

Created by ad agency BBH Shanghai, the video tells a story of how communities living on China's borders in Russia, Myanmar, Vietnam, Mongolia and Kazakhstan had little to no interaction with one another despite being neighbours.

To get them to bond and break down those invisible borders, Harbin Beer introduced a series of sports, from basketball to canoeing, and witnessed how groups of people came together to compete in friendly matches.

At the end of the shoot, the production team left the sports equipment behind in the various locations, so that people from both sides of the divide could continue to play and bond.
