Coco has got Pixar strumming a new tune.

While not a musical per se, the animation studio's next feature film does take music as its focus, telling the story of a young boy, Miguel (Anthony Gonzalez), who dreams of following in the footsteps of his idol, singer Ernesto de la Cruz (Benjamin Bratt).

Unfortunately, Miguel's wishes go against the strict "no music" rule in his household. But when he accidentally winds up in the Land of the Dead, he encounters a trickster (Gael García Bernal) who helps him discover the truth about his family's past.

Along the way, Miguel encounters the kinds of memorable characters and stunning locations that give Pixar plenty of opportunities to remind us why they're still one of the most revered names in animation.

And, no doubt, learns some heart-wrenching life lessons that remind us why this studio has such a reputation for making grown-ups cry like babies.

Coco is in theaters November 22.
