With a guitar in hand and heart ripped open by the breakup of Taylor Swift and Tom Hiddleston, Stephen Colbert performed a touching tribute to the couple on Wednesday night.
The Late Show host explained that he felt very much a part of the Hiddleswift relationship because of their constant presence in the press. "In a way, it feels like they broke up with me," Colbert said, summing up pretty much everyone's thoughts on the tragedy.
"I'm so upset I did what Taylor does during a breakup—I wrote a song about it," he explained.
It's no "Teardrops On My Guitar," but it's a stirring musical eulogy nonetheless.
