Proposing is a risky business. Will they say yes or will you be faced with crippling rejection? Add to that an audience of 53,000 and members of Coldplay, and that's pressure.

An Australian man in Melbourne got Coldplay lead singer and "new best friend" Chris Martin to stop midway through their Saturday gig, so he could to pop the question to his better half.

First, the wrong woman got on stage. Awkward. Martin made it more awkward by asking the crowd if anyone wanted to marry the random woman. Good save!

Once the right woman was on stage, the man emotionally declared his love in front of everyone, dropping to one knee to pop the question to his girlfriend of three years.

Covering her face (hopefully with joy and not fear) his partner said "yes." Awww!

Martin played the newly-engaged couple off with "A Sky Full of Stars" as thousands of hearts presumably burst from the cuteness of it all.

The second Melbourne show on Sunday evening saw another on-stage proposal, this time with a couple who had flown all the way from Malaysia.

A Coldplay marriage proposal is perhaps the most romantic of all marriage proposals.
