'Please stay at home, we beg you': Hospital respiratory team sends powerful message

For some reason, despite lockdowns, shutdowns, and a fair few nervous breakdowns, there are still people not taking the coronavirus pandemic seriously. Coronavirus spreads easily and asymptomatically, and the only way to slow it down so that intensive care units don't get flooded with more severe cases than they can care for is for everyone to stay in their damn house as much as possible.

You've heard from the Italians who wish they could go back to a time when they could have listened to experts and prevented the devastating crisis they're in now. Now listen to the nurses working to save lives. In this incredibly stark video from the Belfast Health and Social Care Trust, a Northern Ireland government health program, respiratory health care staff in the capital introduce themselves by name and then plead, earnestly and solemnly, for you to stay at home.

These are the people who'll be on the front lines, putting themselves directly at risk trying to keep people breathing as the worst of the pandemic hits hospitals. It's clear, personal, and incredibly serious. Send it to anyone who still somehow needs a little more convincing that this is a big deal. Ask them to think of the Angelas, Julians, Claires, and Suzys looking after their friends and parents in the weeks and months to come.
