'Counter-Strike' running on Android is both amazing and pointless

No one would ever play the game seriously on a touchscreen, but it's wild to see it actually running.

Alibek Omarov deserves a hearty round of applause for this feat of technical ingenuity. Current Android devices were never meant to run a game like Counter-Strike -- yet here is Counter-Strike 1.6, running reasonably well on an Android tablet.

Sure, the performance isn't perfect. And generally speaking, Counter-Strike isn't the type of game you'd want to mess with on a mobile touchscreen (look at all those "buttons"). But that's besides the point.

Coders like Omarov typically pull off device hacks like this simply to prove it can be done. There's a long history of id Software's Doom being ported to any screen imaginable, including ATMs, Apple Watch and even a virtual screen inside of Doom.

If you want to give this particular hack a go on your own time, you can grab the code from Omarov's GitHub profile page.
